MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – No country can by completely safeguarded against security threats, Chinese Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui said as he spoke at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
Li Hui stated that in order to provide security, we need to think about the root causes of the world's current turmoil.
"Some countries adhere to erroneous security concepts and seek absolute security in the spirit of Cold War thinking, which has led to a lack of mutual trust among major powers and increased geopolitical disagreements," he said.
"Moreover, ineffective governance and uneven development eventually led to the disruption of the security system and inevitable conflict outbreaks," Li Hui pointed out.
The Chinese spokesperson highlighted: "We are not sailing in separate boats. We all are in the same ship of common destiny. Therefore, in front of the vast undivided ocean, no one can feel absolutely and exclusively safe. Every country can face security threats."
"Peace is like a ray of sunshine, and security is like air. We do not notice them, but it is difficult to survive without them," he remarked.
"Eurasia is the largest, most populous and culturally diverse continent," Li Hui added. "Its security is closely linked to the well-being of all nationalities, who make up 70% of the world's population."
Li Hui pointed out that China has put forward the Global Security Initiative, which comprehensively outlines the country's position on world peace.
