MYADEL DISTRICT, 16 August (BelTA) – China has won a tender to insert into orbit a satellite made by students of the Belarusian State University, BelTA learned from Belarusian Education Minister Igor Karpenko on 16 August.
“The satellite will be used for educational purposes. Its data will be sent to labs for various research projects of professors and students,” said the official.
Students are encouraged to carry out research projects in all Belarusian educational institutions. Seven universities are busy introducing the University 3.0 model, which provides for commercializing scientific research for the sake of creating new enterprises and jobs and making products with a high added value. Igor Karpenko noted that Belarus is interested in China's experience in this matter. There are plans to study it when an Education Ministry delegation visits China. The next session of the Belarusian-Chinese group on education is scheduled to take place in Beijing in late August.
The specialists are expected to discuss among other things the possibility of declaring a Year of Education in Belarus and China. Apart from that, the legal base will be reviewed. Belarusian and Chinese universities alone have signed about 350 agreements. The Belarusian side is interested in encouraging the universities to advance cooperation in technology and science.
BelTA reported earlier that the Belarusian education minister and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming visited the education and recuperation center Zubrenok on 16 August. Igor Karpenko and Cui Qiming met with the Chinese kids, who are staying in the center right now and had an informal talk.
