MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – The China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone aims to promote medical tourism in Belarus, First Deputy Director General of Industrial Park Development Company Kirill Koroteyev said in an interview with BelTA.
The medical cluster in the industrial park has already been established and expanded by new companies, he said. “In general, we see the results of the medical cluster' development and hope for its further progress. Even in medium-term plans we emphasize medicine and medical services. The park features not only industrial, but also recreational areas. Anyway, our manufacturing industry is environmentally friendly, because we need to meet certain requirements. Therefore, we intend to develop medical institutions,” Kirill Koroteyev remarked.
Currently the park hosts one small medical center. “We want to create, let's say, a medical village to promote tourism, because we have certain preferences in medicine: we can immediately apply a drug, equipment or some methods that are registered in countries with high competence in healthcare on the territory of the park, certainly with the consent of the patient. This way we can provide access to foreign experience at an acceptable price. For example, we can provide access to pharmaceutical developments, equipment, or perform a certain surgery with the participation of a doctor who came to the park only for a short time,” Kirill Koroteyev stated.
According to him, the park is going to develop various services: from specific medical care to heath resort treatment for foreign citizens and elderly. “We see great potential for Belarus and the park in the development of medical tourism,” he added.
