Children's technopark in Minsk to launch new UAVs program

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - The National Children's Technopark will launch a new educational program "Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technologies", BelTA learned from the educational institution. The program will be part of the Aerospace Technologies cirriculum. The innovative program is designed to train highly-qualified specialists in the promising and rapidly developing sector of unmanned aviation.

"The idea of the program was born thanks to the fruitful cooperation between the National Children's Technopark and the "Design and Technology of Unmanned Aerial Systems" Department of the Belarusian State Technological University," said Dmitry Yakovlev, Head of the Aerospace Technologies Laboratory of the Children's Technopark, Master of Sports (Belarus) in aeromodelling. "The main idea of the program is an in-depth study of advanced technologies in the aerospace technology sector, with a focus on unmanned aerial vehicles. Students will gain the knowledge, learn skills necessary to work in this dynamic sector and reach understanding of the use of UAVs in various industries. A team of professionals from the National Children's Technopark, the Belarusian State Technological University and the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation has been working on the program. Cooperation of representatives from these organizations ensured the integration of different approaches and knowledge, making the program more comprehensive and effective for students to learn".

Graduates of the program will acquire basic knowledge and skills necessary for entering universities and further training in specialties related to the design, manufacture and use of UAVs in various sectors of the economy, including agriculture (crop monitoring, fertilizer application), geodesy and cartography (creating maps and terrain plans), construction (monitoring the progress of construction works), logistics and delivery, security (patrolling territories), search and rescue.

As part of the program, students will work on real projects related to the design and use of various UAVs according to specific technical requirements to solve national economic tasks. "This will allow them to put their knowledge into practice and contribute to the development of unmanned aviation in the country. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technologies program is an investment in the future, which will allow training a generation of young specialists capable of developing and operating innovative UAV solutions, contributing to the development of the economy and improving the quality of life in Belarus," Dmitry Yakovlev said.
