Children’s charity campaign reaches over 1m children in Belarus

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – The Our Children charity campaign held in Belarus during the winter holiday season reached over 1 million children across the country, Yelena Voitekhovich, senior specialist with the department of social, educational and ideological work at the Education Ministry, told BelTA.
 
"Overall, the campaign reached over 1 million children, as the events were held in all educational institutions of Belarus. Our aim was to make every kid feel special, surrounded with love, and enjoy the holiday spirit. Preliminary estimates show that the regions raised over Br6.5 million for the campaign," Yelena Voitekhovich noted.
 
According to her, the Belarusian Children's Fund annually organizes a number of charity events for socially disadvantaged children as part of the Our Children campaign.
 
“During 2024 campaign the Children's Fund provided assistance and new inventory worth Br298,000. A total of 10,703 children received gifts. The main events were a trip to the Grandfather Frost residence for children from family-type children's homes from different Belarusian regions, and a nationwide holiday event at the Silichi ski resort for the orphans and residents of family-type children's homes from the city of Minsk and Minsk Oblast, Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast," Yelena Voitekhovich noted.
 
The Belarusian Children's Fund joined the holiday celebration and helped every region with their organization. The Belarusian Women's Union, the Belarusian Youth Union BRSM and trade unions of Belarus also actively contributed to the Our Children campaign.
