MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) - The Belarusian Children's Fund is launching a national charity event "Our Hearts to Children" in the run-up to the New Year and Christmas as part of the Our Children nationwide campaign, Irina Chernyakova, deputy director of the Belarusian Children's Fund, told BelTA.
"During the most long-awaited holidays, we wish Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to those kids who are in bad need of protection and support of adults, and, of course, give them gifts,” Irina Chernyakova said.
On 15 December, the Belarusian Children's Fund will bring together orphans from family-type children's homes in Minsk for the festive event in the Maksim Gorky Central Children's Park. “This year, due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, we decided to organize a festive event in the open air with an active entertainment program for 45 children from family-type children's homes," she said. The festive event will continue in the Minsk Planetarium where the kids will watch a full-dome movie and see the mesmerizing starry sky.
Irina Chernyakova stressed that this event will kick off a series of good deeds across the country. According to the long-standing tradition, the Belarusian Children's Fund will give sweet gifts to children who are being treated in the children's burn department of the emergency hospital, the national research center of pediatric surgery, the children's department of the national research center of mental health.
“This year we will not be able to visit the kids in hospitals but will organize holidays and competitions online for them. All regional branches of the Belarusian Children's Fund are preparing charity programs in their regions for orphans, children with disabilities, children in hospitals or in specialized institutions. To feel the joy of the magical holiday, to fill hearts with warmth, to surround children left without parents with care is an important part of the New Year and Christmas good deeds,” Irina Chernyakova said.
