MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – The 10th edition of the Children of the Commonwealth international cultural and educational forum will be held in Belarus, at the National Children's Educational and Recreation Center Zubrenok, on 7-16 July. It is the first time Belarus will host this event, BelTA learned from the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.
This year the forum will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. According to Director of the National Center for Environmental Protection and Local History Yelena Onufrovich, the goal of this forum is “to create an international platform for educating children and youth in the spirit of good neighborliness and cooperation”. In addition, the Belarusian youth expedition “Routes of Memory. Routes of Unity” will continue this year. Taking part in it will be more than 10,000 students.
During the forum, schoolchildren from the Commonwealth countries will be able to present their customs and traditions, and most importantly, they will take part in exciting events aimed at “building friendship, shaping an active civic position and a responsible attitude to the world around us”.
The Children of the Commonwealth forum was initiated by the Kyrgyz Republic. The first forum was held in Cholpon-Ata, a resort town on Lake Issyk-Kul, in 2013. The forum's geography expanded after 2020. In 2021 it was held in Russia, in 2023 it was hosted by Uzbekistan.
