MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, General Valery Gerasimov has arrived in the Republic of Belarus to check the readiness of Russia's military units to participate in the Belarus-Russia joint military exercise Allied Resolve 2022, BelTA learned from the Defense Ministry.
The exercise is the final stage of inspecting the troops. The inspection began in January this year in line with the agreement of the presidents of Belarus and Russia. The exercise is meant to practice suppressing and repelling external aggression in the course of a defensive operation, as well as countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State.
