MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Belarusians living abroad will be able to cast their ballot at Belarus’ parliamentary and local elections at a designated polling station in Minsk, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko told reporters prior to the CEC meeting, BelTA has learned.
“Today we will decide how certain groups of citizens will be able to vote. First of all, this pertains to Belarusian citizens living abroad, leaving for another country for permanent residence, those who have received the appropriate passports, but are still citizens of Belarus and are registered with our diplomatic missions,” said Igor Karpenko.
According to the chairman of the Central Election Commission, they will be able to vote at a designated polling station in Minsk when they come to Belarus. “In accordance with amendments to the Electoral Code of Belarus, no polling stations will be set up abroad during this election campaign,” he emphasized.
