Cars from Belarus, Russia no longer allowed to cross border into Lithuania

MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – Lithuania amended the border crossing procedure for some categories of individuals and transport vehicles as of 3 April, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Private cars are no longer allowed to enter Lithuania via Lithuanian border checkpoints at the Belarusian border. Travelers may cross Lithuania in transit on their way home, however, they are allowed to travel only in groups, with police escort, and without stopping.

Meanwhile, Lithuanian citizens encounter no restrictions as they leave Belarus in the Lithuanian direction. The Belarusian side is ready to help foreigners return to the places of permanent residence.

Questions about how European Union citizens can enter Lithuania can be sent to embassies and consular institutions of the relevant countries. The State Border Committee of Belarus would like to point out that Belarusian citizens can enter Belarus without any restrictions.

“In order to arrange transfer to the border on their way home from abroad, we advise Belarusians to Belarusian contact embassies or consulates in the countries where the citizens are,” the source said.
