Call for more attention to training personnel for Belarusian mass media

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – It is necessary to pay more attention to the training of personnel for mass media and for getting them involved in information confrontation, BelTA learned from Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Lutsky.

Igor Lutsky said: “I’d like to note that certainly, there is a personnel issue, a personnel problem. We just have to pay more attention to the education institutions that train reporters. We have to pay more attention to the relevant higher education institutions that train specialists for economy and law. They can be good specialists in the sphere of mass media, in culture. There is indeed a number of people we can choose from. We just have to prepare the reserves. I think that personnel training and getting the personnel involved in information confrontation are the task number one for the year 2024.”

The official went on saying: “Challenges and threats… We’ve lived with these threats and challenges for quite some time now. We are ready for everything and our reporters are ready. I have to admit they are decent professionals. We’ve been working together for a long time. This is why we just simply have to increase our professional level. No need to be afraid. We can handle everything. Everyone should do their jobs properly. Some may have to work harder, clench their fists and teeth, but generate good news topics and approach their profession creatively.”

A session of the Belarusian Information Ministry board took place on 12 March to discuss the industry’s performance in 2023 and the ministry’s main tasks for 2024. Representatives of the central government and the Belarus President Administration, heads of top nationwide and regional mass media, prominent ideologists took part in it.
