MOSCOW, 14 October (BelTA) – Value of social functions performed by the artistic communities in general and writers in particular goes beyond monetary considerations, Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Buzovsky said when talking to reporters on the sidelines of the second Congress of Union of Writers of the Belarus-Russia Union State in Moscow, BelTA has learned.
According to Igor Buzovsky, the subject of excessive commercialization of art and the interaction between the creative communities in the Union State should be seen as a priority. He noted that the modern economic environment does bring forward its priorities, but without the support the creative community will not be able to perform the social functions that have been historically assigned to it by society. “Underestimating these things leads to the degradation of not only individual creative associations but also the values that are the pillars of the society. We should cherish and fight for them,” Igor Buzovsky said.
Government expenditures on the support of socially important literature should be maintained and should be adequate to the challenges of the time, Igor Buzovsky believes. “Literature will stay here for centuries. It is a foundation for the future development of the state,” he said.
