BREST, 12 September (BelTA) – A number of buses still remain on a bridge between Belarus and Poland, they will have to look for other routes for returning to the European Union, BelTA learned from Anton Bychkovsky, spokesman of the State Border Committee of Belarus.
Since 01:00 (Belarusian time) not a single outbound or inbound vehicle has crossed Belarus’ state border via the Terespol border crossing (the Brest border crossing on the other side).
“Since 18:00 today the border crossing has seen 116 cars and 16 buses leave Belarus. Our border service has also welcomed over 270 vehicles willing to enter Belarus. All of them were cleared on time and allowed to enter the territory of our country,” Anton Bychkovsky said.
In his words, several buses still remain on the bridge between Poland and Belarus. Practically all of them have foreign registration plates. Drivers of these vehicles intended to return into the territory of the European Union. The buses will be cleared to enter Belarus. All the people in these buses, including the drivers, will have to look for other routes to return to the European Union.
On 11 September Poland’s Border Guard officially informed the State Border Committee of Belarus that border crossings at the Belarusian-Polish border will be closed as from 01:00 on 12 September. Those are the border crossings for automobiles (Brest-Terespol and Kozlovichi-Kukuryki) and four border crossings for trains (Grodno-Kuznica Bialostocka, Berestovitsa-Zubki Bialostockie, Svisloch-Siemianowka, and Brest-Terespol). The Polish side promised to release information about when the border crossings would be reopened later.
