MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – The Faculty of Journalism of Belarusian State University (BSU) has become a member of the Eurasian Media Studies Center of Russia's Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU). The relevant agreement was signed by BSU First Vice Rector Dmitry Medvedev and Dean of MSU Faculty of Journalism Yelena Vartanova at a web-based meeting, BelTA learned from the BSU press service.
Thanks to cooperation with the center, BSU scientists will be able to conduct joint research and organize scientific events together with colleagues from Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, as well as have their works published in international rankings and exchange research and methodological materials.
The agreement provides for expanding cooperation between the BSU and the MSU. The universities signed the first agreement on cooperation in science, education, and culture in 1995. At present, their cooperation develops in line with several more agreements, including an agreement on cooperation in science and education, a memorandum of intent for cooperation in space science, an agreement on cooperation in educational and research activities between the faculties of philosophy and psychology, and programs between various faculties of the universities.
The first outcome of such close cooperation was the launch of the joint master's program of the faculties of history “History of Belarusian Diaspora”, graduates of which get diplomas of both the universities. The BSU Faculty of Radiophysics and Computer Technologies and the MSU Institute of Nuclear Physics work together in space materials science. In addition, teachers of the two universities take part in joint conferences and seminars, attend each other's thesis defense. Teachers of the BSU Faculty of Journalism annually take part in the conference “Journalism: Creativity, Profession, Industry” and the international scientific readings “Media and mass communications”.
The Eurasian Media Studies Center was set up at the MSU Faculty of Journalism on December 2020. The mission of the center is to pool the intellectual potential of universities of the EAEU member states and facilitate cooperation between universities in media studies and professional training of journalists. So far, the center has seven members: the MSU and its branch in Armenia's Yerevan, the BSU, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Kazakhstan), Bishkek State University named after K. Karasayev (Kyrgyzstan), and the Russian-Armenian University (Armenia).
