MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – The choice of Minsk for the Normandy Four talks ten years ago was due to the historical role of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the consistency of Belarusian people, Russian TV host, head of the Global Energy Association (Russia) Sergey Brilev said in the documentary “In Search of Peace” aired by the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA learned.
“It is obvious that Minsk was chosen as the venue because of the role Lukashenko played in history and because of the consistency of Belarusian people. Apparently, the president is very aware of this and regards this matter as very important. Belarusians are consistent. It's my small compliment. Usually, when you go to cover such events, your experience tells you: “Well, it's going to be chaos, no one will know anything.” In the case of Belarus, everything was organized impeccably,” Sergey Brilev said.
The journalist was surprised even by some small things. For example, organizers put cups with the Belarusian coat of arms for journalists, which is usually done only for delegations. “It was a kind of gesture,” the TV presenter remarked.
