BREST, 29 January (BelTA) – The 4th edition of the Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition will take place in Brest on 13-19 March, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel of Brest Mayor Aleksandr Rogachuk.
Participants will compete in two age groups: 16-19 and 20-25 years old. The young pianists will be judged by professional musicians from universities of Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, and Poland.
Aleksandr Rogachuk thanked famous Belarusian pianist Lilia Batyreva for her contribution to the organization of the competition.
The first edition of the Sviatoslav Richter International Piano Competition was held in 2015. Since then, the competition took place every two year and featured young pianists from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, China, and Mexico.
The competition commemorates Sviatoslav Richter, a renowned pianist of the 20th century who often performed in Brest. The event aims to improve professional skills of young pianists, popularize works by Belarusian and foreign composers, and arrange meetings with outstanding pianists of the 21st century.
The organizers are the Brest City Hall, the regional music society, and the Shirma Brest State Music College.
