
BREST, 10 June (BelTA) - The Gorky Brest Regional Library will host the first international conference Berestie Chronicle on 10-12 June, BelTA learned from the library.
The conference will bring together representatives of the National Library of Belarus, city and district libraries and also specialists from Russia: the Russian State Library, Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library, Lermontov Penza Regional Library, Krupskaya Astrakhan Regional Scientific Library and Bunin Oryol Regional Scientific Universal Public Library.
On the first day the participants will go see Brest Hero Fortress to lay flowers at the Eternal Flame and honor the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland. The conference will kick off on 11 June. The key theme is book collections of regional libraries as part of the historical and cultural heritage of the country. The specialists will not only exchange expert opinions, but also agree on further cooperation. It is planned that the Brest Regional Library will sign cooperation agreements with the Oryol Regional Scientific Universal Public Library and the Astrakhan Regional Scientific Library.
The conference will be co-located with the Library. Books. People exhibition and the History in Book Bindings cultural and educational project. The conference participants will also attend an official function to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Gorky Brest Regional Library.
