Brest patriotic center attracts students from Russia

MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) - Russian regions have shown interest in studying of their students at the National Center for Patriotic Education at the Brest Fortress, Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik told BelTA.

On 2 June, the ceremony was held to mark the completion of the first phase of the center construction project. The facility was designed to offer additional educational opportunities and includes locations dedicated to defense, sports, tourism, and other activities.
“We have already received numerous proposals from Russia, and we have agreed that in the near future young people from Irkutsk, Penza, Orel and other cities will come to Belarus to recreate with Belarusian students. I am confident that our patriotic center will gain international recognition, allowing our young people to interact with their peers from other countries,” the Brest Oblast governor said.

Brest Oblast has also received invitations from Russian regions. For example, students from Brest are preparing to visit the Zvardeets (Guardsman) patriotic camp in Penza Oblast. "We have formed this group from students who successfully completed the academic year. We will continue this initiative," he added.

The second phase of the construction of the National Center for Patriotic Education has began this spring. In the casemates of the tenaille front, a dining hall, classrooms, and hobby spaces will be created. "There is no doubt we will complete it ahead of schedule, just like the first phase. We saved about Br4 million thanks to numerous volunteers and student teams who worked tirelessly to beautify the site," Piotr Parkhomchik said. He emphasized that, according to the plan, the second part of the complex should be operational in 2026. Representatives of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union and students of the patriotic education center are ready to help again.

The third phase of the project will involve the creation of a cultural and leisure complex at the Western Fort.
