MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – We are already living in a multipolar world, but we need to recognize this new reality formally, Brazilian journalist Lucas Leiros, specialist in international relations and geopolitics of military affairs, said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
"A few years ago I started reporting on international conflicts for the international media specializing in the situation in Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Now I am very focused on covering politics in this region because it is a very important topic in the current geopolitical situation, at a time of polarization between Eurasia and the West. As for Eurasia, I have reported on Russia and Belarus. I was lucky enough to meet Belarusian diplomats in Brazil and build a wonderful friendship between us. I came to your country for the second time, covering the situation for the Brazilian public about what is happening here and how the Western mainstream media lies about Belarus and Russia," Lucas Leiros noted.
When asked whether we are already living in a multipolar world, the journalist noted that de facto we are. The West no longer controls everything that happens. "The opinions and desires of the United States and the European Union are not as relevant as they used to be. But formally, legally, we still live in a U.S.-controlled world order. Countries are still persecuted, sanctioned. The United States is still interfering in domestic affairs. So I think that although we have already reached this multipolar reality, we need to sign a formal agreement between countries to recognize this new reality and oblige the central powers to act accordingly to this multipolar reality and respect the will and opinion of developing countries," he said.
