BREST, 29 January (BelTA) – The approaches specialists used to create a massive waiting area for trucks outside the automobile border crossing Kozlovichi at the Belarusian-Polish border were revealed to reporters by Director General of Beltamozhservice Company Dmitry Kovalenok, BelTA has learned.
According to Dmitry Kovalenok, they have managed to create a transport and logistics hub that has taken Belarus’ customs and logistics infrastructure to the next level. The holding area has 790 truck parking spaces. Gate houses for incoming and outgoing vehicles are available as well as information displays and places for refrigerated trucks to plug in. Cafes and heated sanitary facilities have been built. The latter feature shower rooms, washing rooms, cubicles for smoking and space for recreation.
The size of the waiting area outside the Kozlovichi border crossing is comparable to 30 football fields. Over 15,000 truckloads of soil was used to make it. “We relied on the world’s best practices while designing it. I can assure you that Belarusian waiting areas can be used as kind of a reference model. Our neighbors (eastern and western ones) are stunned by them when they come to Belarus. They hail us as an example when they develop their projects. The best level is the client’s desire. Any client wants to have the best conditions: sanitary conditions and amenities, conditions for having meals. This is why we proceed from what consumers want,” the Beltamozhservice director general stressed.
Driver’s preferences were also taken into account when infrastructure was installed in the waiting area. As an example Dmitry Kovalenok explained how the location of the café was chosen. “Together with the process engineer we reviewed how convenient it will be for a driver to park the vehicle, go inside, have a meal, and go back. We primarily took into account what drivers want,” he assured.
Next in line is the waiting area outside the Brest border crossing. It is supposed to open this spring. Various amenities for comfortable border crossing experience are also getting created over there.
