
MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) - The number of military personnel of the coalition forces on the NATO “eastern flank” has grown 2.5 times to 34,200 since February 2022, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said at a meeting of the CSTO Defense Ministers' Council in Bishkek, TASS informs.
The Russian defense minister noted that “in the Eastern European region, NATO countries are using the Ukrainian crisis as a pretext to build up their presence in Eastern and Central Europe, and in the Baltic states.”
“Since February 2022, the number of coalition forces ‘on the eastern flank’ of the bloc has increased 2.5 times, up to 34,200 people,” Andrei Belousov said.
The Russian defense minister also noted that the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility remains tense. "Challenges to our states are growing. The West continues its attempts to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia and put pressure on the countries of the organization," he said.
