Belousov: Belarus, Russia will counter attempts to downplay USSR’s role in defeat of Nazi Germany

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia will continue countering the attempts to falsify the history of World War II and the Great Patriotic War and to downplay the contribution of the USSR to the victory over Nazi Germany, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov said at a meeting of the joint board of the defense ministries of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
Andrei Belousov noted the the meeting attached special attention to preparations for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany. "This historic date unites the peoples of our countries and close neighbors, who heroically fought hand in hand against the enemy. The program of celebrations will include large-scale events dedicated to the milestones of the Great Patriotic War," the Russian defense minister said.

Andrei Belousov stressed that the common task is to preserve true information about the feat of our soldiers. "Together we will continue to work to counter the attempts to falsify the history of World War II and the Great Patriotic War, as well as the attempts to downplay the contribution of the Soviet Union and our peoples to the defeat of Nazi Germany," he said.
