MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - Belarus actively cooperates with international organizations to ensure reliable and safe operation of the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP), BelNPP Director General Sergei Bobovich said at the General Meeting of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) in Abu Dhabi, UAE, BelTA learned from the BelNPP.
The BelNPP head informed the participants of the meeting about the history of construction and commissioning of the plant, noting the outstanding role of the president of Belarus in the implementation of the project. Sergei Bobovich emphasized that the new generation 3+ NPP-2006 project of Rosatom State Corporation implemented in Belarus meets the latest standards of reliability and safety.
The BelNPP director general also spoke in detail about the personnel training system, the training areas within the framework of the State Program of Personnel Training for Nuclear Power Engineering Industry in Belarus, cooperation with leading specialized universities of Belarus and Russia, personnel training at the BelNPP Training Center and the structural subdivisions of the enterprise.
According to Sergei Bobovich, throughout the entire period of the nuclear power plant construction project Belarus has been actively cooperating with more than 20 countries and international organizations, primarily the IAEA and the WANO, in the area of nuclear power.
“Cooperation with international organizations, such as the WANO, helps the BelNPP expand its capabilities for reliable and safe operation of the nuclear power plant and development of an improved nuclear power infrastructure for peaceful applications of nuclear energy. We believe that nuclear power is a bright and safe future for the next generations,” the BelNPP director general said.
