MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) - Belarusian industrial giants make a number of products not related to their main lines of business, BelTA learned from the Belarus 1 TV channel.
What do Belarusians and residents of many other countries associate such an enterprise as MTZ with? Of course, with the famous Belarusian tractors. But the enterprise also produces... axes. This is a joint project of MTZ and Minsk Termoplast Plant.
According to Andrei Yushkevich, chief specialist for the organization and support of new MTZ projects, the new Belarusian axe is not a simple product. The handle is made of polyamide. This material is almost unbreakable during operation. It does not absorb moisture, is elastic, and does not crack from the sun, unlike wood.
The fact that the axe is almost impossible to break is not just words. Journalists conducted a special crash test. The axe was driven over by a 4-tonne Belarus tractor with a front wheel load of 700kg. It left not a single scratch on the tool.
The axe production process begins in the shop of special tools and technological equipment. The company produces 22 blades per shift.
The recent history of the Belarusian axe began in April. During the national voluntary clean-up day, Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We need to produce our products.”
In late May, the first samples were presented to the president in Orsha. The head of state tested them at his land plot.
Then the president used the Belarusian axe at the third wood chopping challenge. Such advertising did its job. The products have been sold out. Requests have started coming from DIY stores. Foreigners want to buy such axes as well.
In general, it is a great trend when well-established industrial giants venture into new production. For example, stylish footwear is produced under the BelAZ brand. It is an analogue of the American brand, only it is cheaper. The boots have proved so popular that they are now in short supply.
The success of the branded footwear prompted the company to develop a new line of products and open the first branded BelAZ SHOP.
Belshina launched the production of rubber boots in 2016. Two years ago, the company kicked off the production of pucks.
