MINSK, 15 March (BelTA) – A new Embraer 195-E2 landed at Minsk National Airport on 13 March. It is the second Embraer 195-E2 that has been added to the fleet of the Belarusian air carrier Belavia, BelTA learned from Belavia's website.
The aircraft stands out thanks to its unusual livery celebrating Belavia's 25th anniversary. It has the number 25 on the tail and Belavia's slogan in two languages (English and Russian) on the fuselage. Belavia and the leasing company AerCap Holdings N.V. signed the lease agreement on the supply of three jets of the new generation in February 2020. Two of them have already been delivered.
“Embraer is proud to be Belavia's long-standing partner. We believe that the delivery of the new Embraer 195-E2 jet in the special livery is the best way to celebrate Belavia's 25th anniversary,” President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation Arjan Meijer noted. “Operating new, more cost-effective and eco-friendly E2 jets will help Belavia achieve even greater success in the future,” he added.
“We are happy to have the second Embraer 195-E2. The delivery of the aircraft coincided with an important event – Belavia's anniversary. The unusual livery of the aircraft celebrates the occasion. Receiving the new Embraer 195-E2 is a significant step in upgrading our fleet and an important milestone in our history. The aircraft will become a symbol of the 25th anniversary of Belavia. Since its founding, Belavia has been working to improve services, increase comfort, and introduce fresh approaches to ensure safety of passengers. Our decision to get three Embraer 195-E2 means that we are on the right way,” Belavia's Director General Igor Cherginets said.
Belavia and the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer have cooperated for eight years. Belavia operates 13 Embraer jets. The new Embraer 195-E2 will become the 14th aircraft of the Brazilian manufacturer in Belavia's fleet.
The main distinctive characteristic of Embraer 195-E2 is cost-efficiency. The GTF engine, the fully enclosed design of the landing gear and larger wings significantly reduce fuel consumption. According to the CAEP/8 standard, nitrous oxide emissions are reduced by 35%, and carbon dioxide emissions by 50%. This makes the aircraft the quietest and the most eco-friendly in its class and makes it possible to reduce the cost of air tickets, while improving the level of service, Belavia stressed.
