MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) - The Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry advises Belarusians against traveling abroad, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.
“There are very few countries free of COVID-19. The situation is constantly changing. One day you can visit a country, the next day its borders get closed. Even after reaching the destination, tourists then experience great difficulties returning home due as many countries shut borders for foreigners, including those transiting,” the press service noted.
Some 6,000 Belarusian tourists are abroad now, mostly in Egypt.
The Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Transport and Communications Ministry, public organizations and travel agencies are working out options to return Belarusian tourists back home.
“There are still citizens who are planning to undertake a trip abroad. The Sport and Tourism Ministry considers it to be reckless and irresponsible,” the press service stressed.
The Tourism Department of the Sport and Tourism Ministry has set up a 24-hour help line. Please, call (17) 327 25 11 or (17) 226 99 00 to get advice on tourism matters. The line operates 24/7.
