MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – A nationwide subbotnik (voluntary labor day) was organized in Belarus on 16 April, BelTA has learned.
As part of the voluntary labor day Belarusians will work to beautify and clean up their workstations and offices, places and territories in population centers, historical and cultural sites, memorial complexes, places of combat and military glory dating back to the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. Voluntary participation is the key principle behind the nationwide subbotnik.
The Belarusian Labor and Social Protection Ministry stressed that people participating in the subbotnik can do so only in a healthy and safe work environment. They must be properly instructed about safety procedures in the course of this work and must be issued the necessary tools and individual means of protection. If vehicles and machines are utilized, steps must be taken to avoid traumas.
