Belarusian Youth Union BRSM volunteers help refugees trapped on border

GRDONO, 25 November (BelTA) - Volunteers from the Belarusian Youth Union BRSM have been engaged in the work to provide assistance to refugees, First Secretary of the Grodno Regional Committee of the BRSM Andrei Yesin told the media, BelTA has learned.

Today is the 18th day of refugees' ordeal on the Belarusian-Polish border. Humanitarian aid, including food, hygiene kits, and warm clothes, is delivered daily to their temporary accommodation facility. Volunteers also help in providing refugees.

"Volunteers of the Kind Heart movement joined the work from the first days. Back then the youth of Grodno and the region collected and delivered the first tonne of humanitarian aid. Afterwards, the work of volunteers was organized on an ongoing basis. The BRSM has already deployed more than 90 volunteers to work at the border," Andrei Yesin said. Among the volunteers are both students and working youth.

Volunteers help with unloading vehicles with humanitarian goods, organizing hot meals, putting together grocery packages, solving various day-to-day issues. Also, volunteers from among students help refugees with translation and communication, including with medical workers.

Andrei Yesin also noted that the BRSM has organized aid collection points for refugees throughout the country. Products, warm clothes are delivered on an ongoing basis.
