Belarus' upper house of parliament passes bill to amend state secrets law 

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) - The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation approved the bill to amend the Law of the Republic of Belarus ”On State Secrets" at a sitting of the second session, BelTA learned.

The bill updates the law “On State Secrets” in the light of the adoption of the Code of Civil Procedure of the Republic of Belarus.

The bill adjusts the norms referencing civil procedures and economic procedures laws and also the economic process.

The document specifies the list of officials who are granted access to state secrets: the chairman and members of the Presidium of the Belarusian People's Congress and the chairman of the Central Election Commission from the day of their election to these positions, and to the head of the Secretariat of the Belarusian People's Congress from the day of their appointment.

The bill complies with the Constitution, laws, normative legal acts of the president, international treaties of the Republic of Belarus, normative legal practices and other established criteria for evaluation of draft normative legal acts.
