Belarusian State University to host Chinese language competition among students

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – The national Chinese language competition among university students will take place at Belarusian State University (BSU) on 4-5 March, BelTA learned from the BSU press service.

The competition will be hosted by the National Confucius Institute of Sinology at the BSU. The aim of the event is to raise interest among university students in studying the Chinese language, improve their command of the language, find talented students, and popularize the Chinese language and culture.

The competition will bring together 125 students of Belarusian universities and teachers undergoing retraining courses at the National Confucius Institute of Sinology.

The linguistic competition will consist of two stages. The first stage will test participants' grammar, vocabulary, writing, and translation skills. The participants will also demonstrate their knowledge of China's history and culture and write an essay using given words.

Twenty participants will qualify for the second stage, where they will answer two questions and retell a video.

The awards ceremony will take place in the National Confucius Institute of Sinology at the BSU on 5 March. The event will be attended by representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, the Belarusian Education Ministry, and the BSU. The organizers will announce award winners and runners-up. Information about the winners will be sent to the president's special fund for the support of talented youth.

The organizers of the competition are the National Confucius Institute of Sinology at the BSU and the Belarusian Education Ministry.
