Belarusian State University establishes additional education institute

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – An additional education institute has been established as part of the Belarusian State University (BSU). The institute will coordinate additional education of adults and pre-university education of Belarusian citizens and foreign ones, the university's press service told BelTA.

The institute will be made up of departments focusing on pre-university education of foreign citizens, on additional training and retraining, and pre-university education of Belarusian citizens. The reorganization is designed to optimize scientific, instructional, and administrative processes, reduce internal competition inside the Belarusian State University, increase the volume of available services and the quality of education, and improve the physical infrastructure.

The department of pre-university education of foreign citizens will focus on increasing the export of education services, on work with foreign citizens using information and communication technologies, on testing and controlling their knowledge. The additional training and retraining department will step up efforts to organize additional training for adults. The department for the pre-university education of Belarusian citizens will step up career guidance efforts among Belarusian school leavers.

The Belarusian State University considerably improved its positions in the sphere of additional education in the last few years. Over the course of two years the number of foreign students opting for pre-university training courses increased by 86%, three fourths of them become students of the university. Up-to-date education programs for career enhancement purposes are opened every year. The university also embraces innovative technologies for training its personnel.
