Belarusian scientists good enough to substitute more imported veterinary drugs with local ones

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Belarusian scientists have appropriate competencies for the country to substitute more imported veterinary drugs with local ones. Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Karanik made the statement after Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko hosted a government conference to discuss the development of biopharmaceutics on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

Asked about the production of veterinary drugs, Vladimir Karanik stressed that the Academy of Sciences has never stayed outside this process. In his words, the Experimental Veterinary Science Institute named after S.N. Vyshelessky actively works with vaccine manufacturers. “Instructions have been given to continue increasing import substitution. The competences are available,” the chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus assured.

Vladimir Karanik pointed out that the choice of vaccines developed by Belarusian specialists allows treating the entire spectrum of cattle diseases. But the output capacity is not sufficient to satisfy the domestic demand.

“The matter has been discussed today. Instructions were given to deal with the mismatch of the demand and of the capability as soon as possible in order to provide for our agribusiness and ensure good export potential,” Vladimir Karanik added.
