Belarusian, Russian foreign ministries discuss cooperation in cultural, humanitarian affairs

MOSCOW, 11 September (BelTA) – Consultations between representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs took place in Moscow to discuss cultural and humanitarian cooperation and joint efforts to promote the common cultural legacy abroad, the press service of the Belarusian embassy in Russia told BelTA.

The sides discussed progress in fulfilling the common action plan on counteracting the falsification of historical facts, including the organization of joint events timed to the 75th anniversary of Belarus' liberation from the Nazi, the 80th anniversary of the beginning of World War Two, events to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory in 2020. The sides also discussed the organization of reciprocal days of Belarusian and Russian culture. Efforts of public associations of compatriots in third countries to popularize the common cultural legacy of Slavonic countries were mentioned as well.

During the consultations the Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Head of the Central Office for Multilateral Diplomacy, Head of the Global Policy and Humanitarian Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Aleksandr Opimakh. The Russian delegation was led by Mikhail Bryukhanov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation.
