MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) – Belarusian Railways carried 1.175 million passengers on 7-12 May, BelTA learned from the press center of Belarusian Railways.
About 214,000 passengers traveled by trains with reserved seats. More than 188,000 of them were business-class regional and suburban trains. Almost 26,000 passengers traveled by international trains running between Belarus and Russia. More than 961,000 people used economy-class urban, suburban and regional trains.
According to the press center, the passenger traffic peaked on 7-11 May.
The biggest demand was for business-class trains Minsk - Brest, Minsk - Vitebsk, Minsk - Gomel and Minsk – Mogilev. On 7-12 May, these trains carried more than 57,000 people.
To meet the increased demand for rail travel in Belarus during the holidays, 77 additional trains were allocated. They carried more than 30,000 passengers. Eight additional trains Minsk - St. Petersburg – Minsk carried 2,300 people.
