Belarusian Radio joins UNESCO's World Radio Day initiative

MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) - Belarusian Radio has joined UNESCO's global broadcasting initiative, BelTA learned from Belteleradiocompany's press service.

"Ahead of the tenth World Radio Day, which is celebrated annually on 13 February, the Belteleradiocompany radio stations have prepared interactive contests and flashmobs for their listeners. The date was chosen on purpose: it was on this day in 1946 that the UN Radio began broadcasting. The tenth global action will be held under the motto ‘New World, New Radio: Evolution, Innovation, Connection'," the press service said.

The organizers emphasize the viability of radio and its resistance to various kinds of transformations: the world changes, radio adapts and innovate. Radio has had to adapt to new technologies to remain the go-to medium of mobility, accessible everywhere and to everyone. Radio connects as listeners always have the opportunity to communicate and get the necessary information about almost everything that happens around.

The Belteleradiocompany radio stations traditionally take an active part in the World Radio Day. Thus, the first national channel of Belarusian Radio launches the thematic flashmob #радио_объединяет (#radio_connects) on the social networks Instagram, VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. Participants are invited to post a photo of themselves listening to radio (at home, at work, outdoors) with the hashtags #radio95, #Belarusianradio #radio1. The authors of the best photos will receive prizes and an opportunity to visit the Radio House with a guided tour.

A lot of gifts, quizzes and contests have been prepared for Radius FM listeners. Thematic quizzes will be offered in the morning broadcast on Friday, 12 February. On World Radio Day the station's listeners will have an opportunity to win a branded hoodie or a portable speaker with Radius FM logo. Quizzes will continue on St. Valentine's Day, 14 February. The most active listeners will get a set of branded YinYang mugs.

The Stalitsa radio station invites its listeners to take part in an interactive morning show to mark World Radio Day. The winners will get prizes with the radio station logo. The most active subscribers to the Kultura radio channel can also expect pleasant gifts on this day. The Belarus international radio will pay special attention to the feedback from its foreign audience.

Shows marking World Radio Day will also be broadcast on the regional radio stations of Belteleradiocompany - Radio Brest, Gorod FM, Radio Vitebsk, Radio Gomel, Gomel+, Radio Grodno, and Radio Mogilev in all regions of the country.
