Belarusian, Polish K9 services exchange experience in Brest

MINSK, 16 September (BelTA) – An experience exchange training for dog handlers of Belarusian and Polish customs services took place in the Brest customs, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

The training brought together staff of the Revenue Administration Regional Office in Bialystok and representatives of the K9 departments of the Belarusian customs. The Polish guests studied the activities of the Brest customs and its departments. The colleagues discussed organization of customs control with use of sniffer dogs and cooperation on the border to fight illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

During the practical part of the training, the participants visited the border checkpoints Varshavsky Most and Kozlovichi on the Belarusian-Polish border. There, the dog handlers demonstrated methods of using sniffer dogs in inspecting trucks, automobiles, luggage, and enclosed spaces.

The event was held in line with the cross-border cooperation program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine for 2014-2020 and one of its projects “Strengthening the capacity of the dog service of the customs authorities of the Republic of Belarus and Republic of Poland” which is financed by the European Union.
