KOBRIN, 15 August (BelTA) - First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Petkevich toured Kobrin-based Polesie enterprise, BelTA has learned.
Natalya Petkevich had an engaged dialogue with the enterprise's staff. When asked whether the company has changed in recent years, she said: "This is a world-class enterprise. A small, compact company that has ‘brains’,” Natalya Petkevich said. “The fact that you have built a high-tech and smart production by making simple yet very necessary toys is an achievement. This is absolutely world-class."
The main topic of the dialogue was information hygiene. “Information hygiene is like handwashing to prevent the spread of germs. Information on the internet is more often seen not as a good thing, but as an infection, a danger. We study online, work, read news, recommendations, recipes, buy things. In general, we live in the information flow. On the one hand, it gives unlimited opportunities. On the other hand, it has become a challenge that requires certain information hygiene practices. We should learn to use and understand information. There is too much of it,” Natalya Petkevich said.
She noted the need to critically evaluate information on the internet, to verify sources and one's own social contacts. “Our life in the information space has turned into a threat to our safety,” Natalya Petkevich said. Reality requires users to adapt to such conditions. Special attention should be paid to children’s behavior on the internet.
“According to the world statistics, Belarus takes 22nd place out of 132 states in terms of accessibility to information and computer technologies. This is a very high rate. In 2014 only 5.7 million people used the internet. This year it is almost 90% of the world population,” Natalya Petkevich noted.
During the meeting, the employees raised topical issues of Kobrin District, including repair of healthcare facilities, supply of medical workers, and the condition of the Mukhavets River. They also discussed the importance of the People's Unity Day. This year Kobrin will host the regional holiday on 17 September. The meeting wrapped up with a ceremony. The enterprise presented Natalya Petkevich a children's toys certificate. She suggested giving these toys to children who moved to Belarus from Donbass ahead of the upcoming People's Unity Day.
