Belarusian PM visits prosthetic center of Belarus

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko visited the Belarusian Prosthetic and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center, BelTA learned.
The Belarusian Prosthetic and Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center operates various production workshops, a hospital, an educational and rehabilitation center, three stores and other things.
 
Roman Golovchenko examined the line-up which is quite wide: orthopedic footwear, children's corsets, wheelchairs, upper and lower limbs prostheses and other technical means of rehabilitation for people with disabilities.
 
The prime minister toured the polyclinic of the prosthetic and orthopedic hospital and also the workshops of the enterprise.
“The tasks that need to be solved by the enterprise will be determined by its management, taking into account the instructions given. For the state, the task is quite clear: to ensure full reintegration of people with disabilities in society,” Roman Golovchenko told journalists.

The prime minister stated that "the number of such people may not be that significant, but they should live a full life", work if possible and not face serious difficulties in moving.

"Belarus has more than 25,000 people who use wheelchairs, about 7,000 people who need prosthetic limbs and other groups. The important thing is to pay attention to each person who has some kind of disability. The strategic mission of this enterprise is to make their products as comfortable as possible, highly advanced and customized to meet the needs of each patient. This is a social mission," Roman Golovchenko emphasized.

He also noted that any enterprise should develop, earn money, enter foreign markets and have resources for modernization. "The enterprise has a lot of production facilities of absolutely different purposes. Therefore, it is necessary to increase exports and self-financing, to build more new facilities. Science and innovations are very important here. Now they are close to creating bionic limbs," the prime minister summarized.
