MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Belarusians have many reasons to be proud, Chairwoman of the Mogilev City Council of Deputies, delegate of the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress Svetlana Stashevskaya said, while sharing her reaction to the Address by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, BelTA has learned.
“Everything in the Address of the head of state is important, every priority and every detail,” the delegate emphasized. “But while the country’s defense capability, innovation, energy efficiency, and much more are matters for professionals, the development of human potential is a matter for every Belarusian. One should not wait for their potential to be developed by others; one must also strive personally to become and be a harmonious and patriotic individual.”
The chairwoman of the Mogilev City Council of Deputies also emphasized: “The president spoke about the danger of imposed stereotypes. About the invented superiority of imports, as well as about the diminishing prestige of the family,” Svetlana Stashevskaya continued. “A massive deception of our people through Western propaganda has led to the admiration of everything foreign and the disregard of our own. True success, however, lies in treating our own products, our homeland, and our history with great love and respect."
Svetlana Stashevskaya believes that we undoubtedly have much to be proud of: the high quality and excellent range of products, beautiful nature and clean cities and towns, social infrastructure and state support for all citizens, guaranteed healthcare, education, and youth employment.
“To love and respect what is ours is to love and respect ourselves and those dear to us, those who defended the country before us, both in wartime hardships and in other difficult times,” the delegate said. “The president highlighted yesterday that his suit was made in Belarus. I also take pleasure in wearing Belarusian clothes and never miss a chance to mention it when people compliment how I look. And which food products should we choose? Of course, ours, it’s guaranteed quality. What kind of families should we build? Traditional ones, of course, where children are born, raised as patriots, and accustomed to labor.”
“By giving preference to Belarusian goods, we demonstrate cohesion, unity of purpose, and show the world our strength and our unity,” she remarked.
