MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – Regional ties with the Russian Federation are of high importance for Belarus, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Governor of Russia’s Voronezh Oblast Alexander Gusev on 10 June, BelTA has learned.
“Cooperation with the Russian Federation at the regional level is of high importance for us. We participated in the projects that have been implemented in Voronezh Oblast, and we are sincerely happy that this work has yielded results,” Natalya Kochanova said.
According to the speaker, special results have been achieved in the construction sector, in which Voronezh Oblast has become a leader among Russian regions in using Belarusian services. The total amount of construction projects implemented as part of cooperation has soared more than 10 times over the past three years.
Three schools, including Russia’s largest educational center, have been built as part of the cooperation. The first stage of the Belarusian Quarter of individual houses with the use of Shklov-made house kits in the eco-village of Lushnikovka was implemented last year.
The chairperson of the Council of the Republic invited representatives of Voronezh Oblast to attend the 11th Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia.

Work is underway to build a kindergarten in Voronezh and a tire recycling plant. The Fakel Stadium reconstruction project was completed in 2024. “Almost all the projects are agreements and contracts that were signed as part of the Forum of Regions,” Natalya Kochanova emphasized.
