MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – The prompt response to challenges and threats depends on the timely exchange of information, Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov said as he opened the command and staff exercise in Belarus on 19 November, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"We should work out possible scenarios, address the issues and define clear solutions. The main goal is to identify and take measures against every extremist who encroaches on public order and security in the country, and to prevent the involvement of people in illegal activities. The upcoming election should be conducted in a calm atmosphere," Ivan Kubrakov said.
The minister stressed the importance of interaction between all government agencies. He emphasized that the prompt response to challenges and threats depends on the timely exchange of information. "I am confident that we will fulfill together the most important tasks to ensure public security during the presidential election with professionalism and dignity," he summarized.
participants of the exercise were addressed by State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich, the deputy ministers, heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs departments, head of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee, and representatives of state agencies. Attending the event were also First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Petkevich, Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, Chairman of the Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev and heads of administrations of the Minsk's districts.
At the practical stage, the participants of the exercise worked out procedures for suppressing violations of the law at the polling station. The readiness of police officers and representatives of state bodies to act in case of emergencies was also checked.
As it has been reported, the command and staff exercise is running in Belarus with the participation of subjects of the state response system on 19- 22 November. It was launched on the instruction of the Belarusian president, under the auspices of the State Secretariat of the Security Council, under the leadership of the Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov. The event includes theoretical and practical trainings. They are scheduled to be held in Minsk, regional and district centers. During the exercise, law enforcement officers will demonstrate their readiness to promptly respond to possible difficulties in the country during the election campaign.
