MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova has visited the Academpharm pharmaceutical company, BelTA has learned.
The speaker familiarized herself with the production and met with the team. “I have studied the performance of your company and, of course, I want to thank you for your work,” Natalya Kochanova said addressing the team. “The company has achieved really good results, pays decent salaries and offers decent working conditions. Yet, the most important thing is that your enterprise has a strong focus on science. It does not only develop new types of drugs, but also manufactures them on its own premises,” she said.
The speaker noted that the company is developing very relevant drugs. “Once the president set a task to increase the share of locally produced medicines up to 50%. This task has been fulfilled. This achievement is taking on new significance in the face of the sanctions against our country. So the president was right when he said many years ago that we should step up efforts to replace imports. Today our task is to control and monitor prices. It is very important to produce our own pharmaceuticals, they are reasonably priced. And, of course, this is also about the safety of our people. Besides, Belarusian products are known for their good quality,” she noted.
Academpharm is a rapidly developing state-owned pharmaceutical enterprise. Although the company is rather young, it has already taken its niche in the domestic market and continues to grow. Academpharm produces 42 names of medicines, 10 names of vitamin products and nutraceuticals. Academpharm won the Innovation of the Year nomination at the Eurasian Pharmaceutical Summit 2021. The company received the award for developing and launching Rivaxan (a generic version of Xarelto) on the Belarusian market.
