Belarusian helicopters help fight forest fires in Türkiye

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Aviation of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry continues helping fight forest fires in Türkiye, the Emergencies Ministry press service told BelTA.

According to the source, two Mi-8 helicopters with helibuckets and a Mi-26 helicopter are stationed in Türkiye. The Mi-8 helicopters help fight fires near the cities of Seferihisar and Kumluca while the Mi-26 helicopter is stationed near the city of Dalaman. Aviation can promptly detect fire sources early on and assist with their extinguishing, thus contributing to the minimization of consequences.

The Belarusian helicopters have already helped put out fires near the cities of Marmaris, Izmir, Antalya, and Alanya.

Since their deployment to Türkiye, the Belarusian aviators have carried out 169 flights, spending 280 hours in the air and dropping 2,754 tonnes of water in over 726 water discharges.
