MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – The West is mum on the ways to solve the pressing international issues, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov, who is in New York for the UN General Assembly, told the Belarusian media, BelTA has learned.
“Virtually everyone is talking about it. If not in bilateral negotiations, then from the rostrum of the UN. The most interesting thing is that many representatives of the West keep mum on major issues, on what is happening in Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, which affects the interests of the entire region. “They say they were unaware, that no one consulted them, they did not imagine this may happen and in general seem unconcerned. They just call on everyone else to calm down and that’s it,” the foreign minister shared.
On the contrary, states from other regions are greatly concerned about these processes, Maksim Ryzhenkov said. “From Latin America to China. Middle East, Iran, Central Asia, Africa. Everyone is talking about it. Everyone is very worried. Because everyone understands that the world is packed with weapons today, that the potential for conflict is high today. Things can flare up anywhere and may end badly. Countries have nuclear weapons. All this is coupled with restless ambitions of states and corporations that produce weapons and that earn huge profits."
as an example the minister mentioned the reasoning of a top executive of a German arms manufacturer. They are rejoicing and discussing plans to increase production for the next five years, calculating potential profits. "They are happily anticipating profits. They forget that if the world ends up in a global conflict, there will be no one to share these profits with," the minister said.
