Belarusian Emergencies Ministry university hosts international conference on firefighting sport

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – The first international science and practice conference on the development of firefighting sport in educational institutions took place in the Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry. Representatives of Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan took part in the conference, BelTA learned from the university's spokesman Andrei Sadovsky.

The system for training future firefighters via firefighting sport was in the center of attention during the conference. Participants of the conference discussed the role of firefighting sport in the vocational training of firefighters, discussed theoretical and practical aspects of organization of firefighting sport in the Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry, in the Emergencies Ministry Academy of Uzbekistan, and the St Petersburg University of the State Fire Service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

Professor Vladimir Lozhkin of the St Petersburg University of the State Fire Service presented a report on the physical training of future firefighters during the conference using videoconference technologies.

Participants of the conference also paid close attention to the modernization and usage of firefighting equipment in firefighting sport. Ways for sportsmen to recover without using drugs were discussed.

Participants of the conference also discussed topical aspects of organization of vocational training and physical training of students and employees of the Emergencies Ministry. Theoretical and instructional problems of the modern system of physical training and psychological and pedagogical aspects of athlete training were discussed.

An international firefighting tournament took place alongside the international conference on firefighting sport. Athletes from higher education institutions from Belarus and Uzbekistan demonstrated their prowess in going through a 100-meter obstacle course, in climbing a tower using a scaling ladder, in finishing a 4x100m relay race, and in combat deployment.
