Belarusian, Egyptian trade unions agree to cooperate

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian Trade Union Workers for Education and Science has signed an agreement on cooperation with the General Trade Union for Education and Scientific Research of Egypt. The signing ceremony took place in the headquarters of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian federation.

The document envisages measures to strengthen and expand relations between trade union organizations of the two countries and also agreements to hold trainings.

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Trade Union Workers for Education and Science Aleksandr Boiko expressed hope that the relations between the trade unions of the two countries would be long-standing.

Hesham Abdelaziz Hassan Radwan, the head of the General Trade Union for Education and Scientific Research of Egypt, noted that the trade union activists are represented in the Egyptian Parliament and no legislation is passed without their consent. As for the General Trade Union for Education and Research, it is one of the largest and most influential in Egypt, with about 1.2 million members.

The foreign guests also visited the International University MITSO where they met with the university's senior staff and trade union members. The visit was carried out as part of the preparations of the Belarusian-Egyptian trade union forum due in Alexandria in 2020.
