MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) - Belarusian diplomats, representatives of the diaspora and friends of Belarus all over the world remember Belarusian villages that were destroyed together with their residents on 22 March, BelTA learned.
Khatyn is an never healing scar on the heart of Belarus. On the map of our country there are thousands of settlements destroyed by the German invaders and their henchmen during the Great Patriotic War. Almost 300 of them shared the fate of Khatyn - they were burned down together with all the residents and never revived after the war.
“On this day we pay tribute to the unfulfilled dreams of millions of compatriots, to the children who never became adults, to all those killed and tortured, burned and shot. We remember. We honor. We cherish,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
