Belarusian Defense Minister, CSTO chief discuss further cooperation

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin held a meeting with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Imangali Tasmagambetov in Minsk on 30 October, BelTA has learned.

Viktor Khrenin briefed the CSTO Secretary General on the current military and political situation in the Eastern European region of collective security. He also informed Imangali Tasmagambetov about Belarus’ position on the issues on the agenda of the upcoming meetings of the CSTO statutory bodies due in Astana on 28 November 2024. The parties discussed the main areas of cooperation within the framework of the organization this year and possible areas of further interaction.

Speaking about the near-term activities in the CSTO, Viktor Khrenin noted that Belarus will focus on holding joint exercises Interaction 2025, Search 2025, Echelon 2025 in September 2025 and implementing of the provisions of the Collective Security Strategy until 2025.

At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further military cooperation.
