MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian company Energo-Oil bought 50,000 coronavirus tests in China. The cargo arrived at Minsk National Airport on 8 April and was donated to the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry, BelTA has learned.
The cargo was delivered from China via Istanbul by the air carrier Turkish Cargo.
Moreover, Energo-Oil has also bought ten ventilators in China and is preparing to hip them home. The enterprise intends to sign a contract to buy 200,000 FFP2 respirators with the 95% filtration percentage soon. The company is looking into purchasing medicines. The total sum of its aid will amount to around $1 million.
According to Belarus Deputy Healthcare Minister Boris Androsyuk, the cargo that arrived from China costs over $430,000. “This is great. Out country spends huge sums of money and we welcome any aid. Especially tests,” he noted. The tests will be distributed evenly among the country's laboratories that use polymerase chain reaction to diagnose the coronavirus.
BelTA reported earlier that an airplane carrying humanitarian aid from China arrived at Minsk National Airport on 1 April. The plane brought more than 2,000 coronavirus tests, medical gowns, infrared thermometers, goggles, disposable gloves and medical boot covers
The humanitarian aid for Belarus is China's response to Belarus' humanitarian cargo sent to China before. “The delivery was initiated by the Chinese side. When China was in a difficult situation, our country sent two planeloads of humanitarian cargo. China decided to return the favor to show appreciation and friendly attitude,” Boris Androsyuk noted.
