Belarusian citizen, her three children  evacuated from Gaza

MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – A Belarusian citizen and her three children have been evacuated to Belarus from the Gaza Strip. The airplane with the family on board landed at Minsk National Airport on 24 October, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the evacuation of the Abualkas family from the Gaza Strip were  Belarusian diplomatic missions and the consular service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The evacuation through Tel Aviv Airport did not work. It was also impossible to get the family out through the checkpoints located on the Egypt-Palestine and Egypt-Israel borders.

As a result of diplomatic effort, the family could get into Jordan through the Allenby checkpoint on the Israel-Jordan border. The evacuation was overseen by the Belarusian embassies in Israel, Syria, Egypt and Russia.

The evacuation process began on the morning of 22 October. Representatives of Belarusian diplomatic missions accompanied and assisted the family in crossing the checkpoints on the Palestine-Israel and Israel-Jordan borders.
